Friday 5

By March 26, 2021August 7th, 2021Friday Five

Good morning,

First off, I want to thank those of you who emailed me last week. It’s encouraging and reminds me of why I started this email series back in 2016. I would love to hear from more of you. What are you up to? What are you into or curious about right now? How has this last year been for you? What challenges have you encountered, and how have you overcome them?

Here are a few updates from me:

I’m still working at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in San Francisco, California. My clinical assignments are hematology, oncology, BMT, and rehab, but I’m also doing a lot for my department in the areas of documentation efficiency/effectiveness and gathering of productivity and outcomes metrics.

I’ve moved apartments twice in the last year, which I do not recommend. However, after a week in my new place, I’m starting to feel settled. As I prepare this, I’m watching the sun rise over the San Francisco Bay and am filled with awe and gratitude.

Your turn! Hit reply and tell me what’s up.

Here is the Friday 5 🙂

What Is Exciting Me
The launch of the Sound Health Network.

Inspiring Podcast
Tim Ferriss’ interview with Jerry Seinfeld was truly inspiring. His perspectives on work, boldness, and self-mastery are enlightening.

What I’m Listening To
Tabla virtuoso Zakir Hussain: Rhythmic Impressions Of Ustad Zakir Hussain

Movement I Can Get Behind
Buy Nothing Project. One way we can reduce waste while helping each other is through this amazing gift economy. Find a group near you.

How to Sound Like John Mayer
Fellow gear heads might already be hip to this, but this amazing YouTube series Rig Rundowns features interviews with SO MANY GUITARISTS. You’ll learn about what guitars they use, which amps, which pedals, what weird modifications they’ve made to get their unique tones. It features artists like John Mayer, Hozier, Brian May (Queen), The Black Keys, Molly Miller (Jason Mraz)…seriously, it goes on and on.

Have a great weekend!
Matt
