THOUGHT
I was contemplating the chances of winning that huge Powerball, and the odds were pretty darn slim. I didn’t buy a ticket. But then I remembered a thought that I’ve had at various times since I was ten or eleven years old: what are the odds of me being born? I was about to get out my calculator and start planning an article, but thank goodness some other people have already done the heavy lifting. The odds of your existence are staggeringly small. You’ve already won the lottery in a major way. Enjoy a slightly philosophical perspective or this terrifying mathematical one.
