Happy Friday, my friends.
It’s early morning and I am in a cloud. It’s been like this the last several days – waking to fog so thick that I can’t see the bay while I type this. In the other direction, Twin Peaks disappears into the heavens. A cat in the neighbor’s kitchen sink is winking at me and wishing me good luck with this Friday 5. (The buildings are close together here.) I hope something in this edition helps carry you lightly into the weekend! Cheers!
What I’m Listening To
Windswept Adan by Ichiko Aoba (Spotify link). A former patient recommended this recently and it is enchanting.
What I’m Reading
On perennial rotation in my audiobook collection is a 31-hour course called Great Mythologies of the World. It’s a cursory introduction, with some analysis, of myths from far and wide. Great value, especially if you have an Audible membership.
Article to Check Out
Is a spider web basically a giant guitar? Maybe a piano is a better analogy. “The spider lives in an environment of vibrating strings…they sense their world through vibrations, which have different frequencies.” Scientists Translated Spiderwebs Into Music, And It’s Beyond Stunning.
Podcast to Check Out
No Dogs in Space is a music history podcast that dives very deep into the origin stories and evolution of mostly punk rock bands. The most recent series is about the Beastie Boys and it’s fantastic.
Rock n’ Roll Live Stream
A couple weeks ago I let you know about the Breakfast Pigs upcoming live stream. It’s been rescheduled for Wednesday, May 19 at 7pm Pacific. Tune in for some face melting 🙂
