What a week. I don’t need to do a rundown – you know it was intense. Please take care of yourselves and of each other. Do one kind thing for a stranger (or more for extra credit). Put out good vibes and good vibes will find you.
Here is the Friday 5:
What I’m Listening To:
Rock Steady by Aretha Franklin. This song. Is so. GOOD.
Songwriting Tips
Not from me. From Paul McCartney. Learn how one of the greats approaches songwriting – you won’t be disappointed.
Tech I’m Wearing
For the last year or so, I’ve been wearing an Oura Ring on my index finger while I sleep and sometimes during the day. It gives me tons of useful data. The two main scores are 1.) readiness (a combination of factors including heart rate variability and body temp), and 2.) SLEEP. This ring tracks your sleep stages and helps you connect daytime activities with poor or good sleep. For example, I know that I want to turn off this computer sometime in the next 5 minutes and start preparing for bed.
What I’m Reading
Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert A. Heinlein. This bit of science fiction was written in 1961, and it’s a trip to read Heinlein’s ideas about the future. Sci-fi is not a common genre for me, but I have to say I’m enjoying this so far.
Quarantine Creations
Over the summer my band, Alvie and the Breakfast Pigs, released a song called Tokyo (Spotify link). There’s also a music video and an accompanying COMIC BOOK. The comic was a first for us and was the perfect creative challenge when we couldn’t meet in person for several months. If you want to get a copy, or any other merch for that matter, hop over to our website.
Alright folks. As E.T. says, “Be good”.
