Friday 5

By October 19, 2018Friday Five
Hey team! Happy Friday! Here’s the Friday 5. Remember that you can always look at past editions on the Music Therapy Source website.
What I’m Drinking
Intelligentsia coffee. Look for the red bags ‘cause dang, this is tasty stuff. My preferred brewing method is pour-over, and I really like their breakfast blend, El Gallo.
What I’m Listening To
Wait for the Moment by Vulfpeck. Silky smoothness.
What I’m Reading
Look, music therapists aren’t notorious for having lavish salaries. While it’s certainly possible to do really well financially in our field, it’s important to remember that regardless of what you make, it’s really about what and how you save. What to do with that savings can be daunting. I found this book, Unshakable, to be really helpful and have been applying its principles for some time now. I frequently revisit it.
Guitar Tip
If you want to build repetertoire, learn strategies for approaching various styles, and master barre chords, you should probably join my Guitar Club. It’s a fun and flexible way to improve your clinical guitar skills and I’m always adding new rep. For example, I recently added a few Elvis songs as well as “High Hopes”, a currently-popular song by Panic! At the Disco.
Quote to Consider
“The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.” -Albert Einstein
Have a good weekend!
Matt
Music Therapy Source runs on love. But there are some costs. If you love the Friday 5 and are into helping to keep it going, consider pledging $2/month to keep the lights on…or servers running…or whatever makes sense for a website 😉
