Happy Friday! I don’t know about you, but this felt like an especially long and busy week. I’m in desperate need of some leisure this weekend. If you’re feeling a bit burnt out like me, check out these leisure ideas for musicians and music lovers.
Music Meccas
Visit one of these historic music meccas. Might I add Haight-Ashbury in San Francisco?
Go to a Show
Find a local band and become a fan. Or, if you like the bigger acts, check out the Spotify feature that tells you when your favorite artists are coming to town. If you’re in Sacramento, CA on Saturday night, you can even come hear MY band 😉
Learn Something New
Hop on Craigslist or go to a music shop and find a weird instrument you don’t know how to play. Mess around and see what you come up with! 10 points if you send me a video of you playing an instrument I’ve never seen.
Read Something
Feeling more like cozying up with a good book? Check out a good biography or interesting perspectives on music like David Byrne’s How Music Works.
Buy a New Record
Ok seriously…when’s the last time you bought AND listened to an entire record? With streaming services, we often listen only to the hits or singles. But artists often take a lot of care in assembling an album. Whether on vinyl, on CD, or through a streaming service, take the time to enjoy the entire album, start to finish.

Have a great weekend,

PS If you join the Guitar Club during the month of April, or are already a member, I’m offering a free 30 minute Skype lesson to work on whatever clinical guitar skill needs some work! Reply to this email with any questions.
