Friday 5! Books, maps, and light

By August 11, 2017Friday Five
Happy Friday, everyone!
Matt here. I want to start off by thanking Hannah for curating so much great content over the last year. She’s done a tremendous job of consistently providing us with helpful resources! I’m going to be taking over the Friday 5 again and hope I can live up to the precedent she set. Big shout out to Hannah!
And now, your Friday 5:
What I’m Reading
The Five Invitations by Frank Ostaseski. “Life and death are a package deal. They cannot be pulled apart, and we cannot truly live unless we are aware of death. The Five Invitations is an exhilarating meditation on the meaning of life and how maintaining an ever-present consciousness of death can bring us closer to our truest selves.”

There Will Be a Light by Ben Harper and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
Phone A Friend
I’m writing this at an airport, where I’m preparing to board a plane for Indianapolis. One of my best friends is getting married, and I’m going to see a bunch of old friends that I haven’t spent time with in at least 5+ years. I’m feeling a bit ashamed that it has been so long. This weekend, call a friend you haven’t seen or spoken with in a while.
Throwback Post
“My job was to awaken possibility in other people.” Hmmm. I think that’s my job, too. Reaching back into the archives for this wonderful Ted Talk and discussion.
Do you love Music Therapy Source and the Friday 5? Since 2009, I’ve poured hours into collecting and sharing resources for music therapists and people who want to become music therapists. This is a labor of love, and I’m not trying to get rich doing it. However, there are costs to maintaining the website and the ever-growing email list. If you love the resources and have the means to help keep it going, please consider subscribing! There are 3 different levels, which start at about the price of a pack of guitar picks ($5).
Have a fantastic, love- and music-filled weekend!
Sincerely,
Matt
